As the first college graduate in his family, Ted values the role of education in society. Ted's wife, Laura, is a math teacher and Ted has coached football as a Varsity Head Football coach in the Public School system.
As the parent of three sons, experience has taught Ted to respect decisions made at the Local and State levels for education. School Districts know their own student population best and the needs of their community. As such, he favors a limited role by the Federal government in educational policy to prevent future "common core" disasters.
Ted fully supports initiatives to make college affordable including expanding federal tax credits for online education, low interest student loans and increasing funding for Pell Grants.
We will always need individuals who are capable of providing the trade services that keep our lives and economy running. Many industries in our region lack a threshold number of qualified workers in the electrical & mechanical trades. Ted supports a system of financial aid for trade schools students and tax credits to schools that provide education in the emerging fields of solar and renewable energies.
